Social Work

When someone we care for is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, there are many stressors that families face. There is the emotional distress, as well as practical and financial considerations that can be difficult.

Often people must give up their jobs to care for a loved one, or the terminally ill person may be the ‘breadwinner’, meaning the family’s primary income is suddenly lost. While we are unable to offer financial assistance, our staff can help you to connect with the resources you require for help in this area.

We believe in helping families at these times in really practical ways - liaising with school counsellors, WINZ and Housing NZ, working with colleagues in the community to provide food parcels and assisting people with applying for funeral grants.
