We’re Dying To Talk To You – Join us for Hospice Awareness Week

Join the team from Hospice West Auckland on 18 May for a free symposium. Find out more about hospice care, ask any questions you have about planning for you own or a loved one’s future care, learn about making a will or an enduring power of attorney, and learn about planning a funeral.
Open to everyone, the symposium will run in two sessions, from 1 – 4 pm and 6 – 9 pm, at our Living and Learning Centre, 206 Swanson Road, Henderson.

“Many people have some understanding of hospice care,” says Hospice West Auckland Chief Executive Barbara Williams. “The goal of this symposium is to build on that understanding. We want our community to take this opportunity to ask questions and gather information about our services to help them make informed decisions about the care they’d like to receive. While the scary emotions surrounding death – grief, fear, loss – won’t go away, we know that having more information ahead of time helps with processing those emotions.”

The free symposium gives people an opportunity to ask questions about death and dying. As well as a panel addressing just what hospice is, and opening up discussion about making tough decisions caring for your ageing parents, the symposium will feature a mini-expo where people can find out more about writing wills and enduring powers of attorney, start planning for the future with Conversations that Count and learn about the whys and wherefores of planning a funeral.
