Hospice founding trustee dies, we remember him

Hospice West Auckland remembers one of our founding trustees, Vic Sunde, who passed away peacefully on 17 August 2021.

For over 22 years, Vic generously donated his time and expertise to Hospice West Auckland, giving it a strong foundation from the start. His philosophy of giving back to the community guided him throughout his time with Hospice.

“The original team of trustees was motivated by the same things the team of today is motivated by,” said Vic in an interview with Hospice in 2008. “That is, wanting to provide free care and look after dying people, their families and other people involved in their care. All the Trustees were (and still are) very dedicated, and worked hard, against the odds to keep it going.”

“I will be forever grateful to Vic for his warm smile and quiet encouragement,” remembers Barbara Williams, CEO of Hospice West Auckland. “His insights and guidance were invaluable for me.”

The Board of Trustees, staff and volunteers at Hospice would like to thank Vic Sunde for his many years of guidance and service, all of which have contributed to give Hospice West Auckland a strong foundation on which it continues to grow to support the community of West Auckland.

Donations to Hospice West Auckland were chosen in lieu of flowers. If you wish to donate in memory of Vic Sunde, you can do so here https://hwa.org.nz/donations/donate-now.
