Hospice Awareness Week 2019

Hospices all around New Zealand joined together last week to highlight the services we all provide for our greater West Auckland communities.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who supported us throughout such a significant period. What we do would not be possible without your help.

During Hospice Awareness Week, there were many events and activities available to get involved in. This included...

Bucket Shake
Throughout Hospice Awareness Week, our amazing volunteers stood shaking their buckets outside Kumeu New World, Countdown Te Atatu Peninsula, Countdown Hobsonville and Barfoot & Thompson Titirangi, raising a total of $2,451.90.

Bake and Donate
A massive thank you to those who brought in their delicious treats for our bake sale last week. All up we raised a fabulous $606.70.

Community Visitor Afternoon Tea
Last Friday, local community members gathered in our Kowhai Suite to discuss Hospice over afternoon tea from 2.30 - 3.30pm. We appreciate everyone who took the time out of their day to join us in discussing Hospice.

'Living Every Moment' Social Media Challenge
Our 'Living Every Moment' challenge received close to 30 entries on our Facebook page, with many sharing with us their most precious memories spent with family and friends. The 3 lucky winners warmed our hearts with their entries and are each taking home a Hospice goodie bag.

Unique Trade Me Auction
Throughout the month of May, Hospice West Auckland were generously donated one-off, rare and collectible items to raise money via our Trade Me account 'wahospice1'. We sold some awesome items, such as our Hospice tote bag - signed by the entire cast of Westside and our Autumn Tool Package - perfect for the unruly Autumn months. $400 has been raised from the auctions so far.
