Bequests

Leaving a gift in their will is the final great legacy a person can leave. We receive and use gifts left to us in our benefactors' wills with the greatest respect.
As a Registered Charitable Trust, Hospice West Auckland relies on the support and generosity of our community through donations such as bequests.
Making a provision in your will to donate to Hospice West Auckland is a way of honouring your community. You can be certain that your final act of generosity will be respected and will help us to make a real difference.
Bequests help to secure our future in the West Auckland community, providing specialist palliative care and support at no cost to patients and families.
Leaving a bequest is one of the greatest ways you can support us. If you are thinking of leaving a gift to us in your will, we thank you for thinking of us.
Hospice West Auckland is a member of Include A Charity.
There are various ways that you can leave a gift in your will to Hospice West Auckland:
- A residue gift such as part of your estate
- A percentage gift such as a percentage of your estate
- Or a specific gift, whether that be money, property or belongings
If you already have a will, you are able to make a simple modification by adding a codicil, such as the example below:
“I give to Hospice West Auckland (CC27137) the sum of $............ (or) ............% of my estate (or) of the residue of my estate (or) property or assets as follows: .............................................
for the general purposes of Hospice West Auckland and the receipt of Hospice West Auckland shall be full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
The Tawa Bequest Group
Considering a bequest may come from personal experience, our care of a family member or a friend, or people may have a desire to ensure caring and professional care is present at end of life for others. The Tawa Bequest Group is a group of like-minded people who wish to know more about our work and what is needed to protect it.
Our symbol of the Tawa tree has been chosen because it is an evergreen native to New Zealand. Its leaves are present through all seasons to give shelter. At one time its fruits were an important source of food with a hard kernel that could be stored for years at a time – becoming a valued food in times of hardship. We see this as a wonderful symbol for support through bequests, gifts that provide for the future of Hospice West Auckland and its philosophy of care.
